We all know that water is an essential part of our body. It is made up of between 55 to 70 percent water and needs constant replenishment. Lean people have more water in their bodies since their muscles grasp more water than fat.

Here's a quick way to know if you are drinking the right amount of water - when you urinate, if your urine is clear or very light yellow and has a little odor, you are well hydrated. That means the darker and smellier your urine is, the more water your need to drink.

How to get enough water for your body to be hydrated?

Drink eight - ounce of water a day. For those who are overweight, an extra glass of water for every 25 pounds of excess weight is needed.

However, studies say that the proper amount of water is also dependent on these factors:

  • The size and weight of an individual - as explained above, the larger and heavier you are, the more water you need to drink
  • The activity level of a person - if you are not physically active, then you don’t need an extra amount of water
  • The place where you live - different places have different climates. If you are residing in a humid climate and you are working out, you need more fuel by taking lots of water.
